About
This blog holds the archives from my original site makemoneyforbeginners.blogspot.com. The posts cover the period 2006 – 2010 and contain information that was relevant at the time of posting. However the internet is ever changing and much of what was written is no longer accurate in terms of how the search engines work today. Since 2008 I have developed new methods as the search engines reworked their algorithms but have not been as public with my findings. MMOFB was used to test many things over the years and while I strove to provide accurate advice I did not write strictly for my readers, rather I structured many posts for the search engines in order to observe the results. If some of the posts or the overall continuity of them seem a bit odd it is because of my constant fiddling and testing. In the end the site had to go as it was leading too many beginners down a path that was no longer valid. To that end I have begun a new series of lessons detailing the methodsĀ I use currently. You can find those at Internet Marketing Lessons by Griz.
These posts will still provide you with a very good background of what is involved in Internet marketing including the basic concepts and an understanding of SEO, search engines, keyword and niche selection and site design. Unfortunately they are outdated in terms of backlinking strategies as “exact match” anchor text is no longer a dominant factor in rankings and can in fact lead to problems with the new algorithms. The concept of overall “brand” authority now takes precedence and while one could formerly concentrate on a simple process of gathering exact match keyword links to ascend the serp rankings these days it requires a broader approach that encompasses 1) Overall Relevance, 2) Site Quality or Authority, 3) Crawl-ability or On site SEO and 4) Linking – both internal and external.
In that light use these posts to acquaint yourself with the basic concepts and history of marketing online while keeping in mind that some of the specifics have changed. I have removed most of the original links but left the text in tact. The comments have also been reproduced as they contain a great deal of information that are worth reading. If you are in doubt at any time feel free to post a comment/question and I will be happy to answer.
Cheers,
Griz
